Making Money From Rocks

by Maxmakingmoney @ 2007-04-26 - 12:37:29

The people who make it big usually are no different than anyone else, just a bit more daring and a bit more creative. When they see the world, they are constantly seeing opportunities. Then, they take the risk and pursue the opportunities for all they are worth. It is easy to sit in an armchair and think up a good idea, but how many of us actually give the time, effort, and resources that we know are necessary for our ideas to pan out? It all depends on how much you want to succeed.

Let me give you a few examples. I know a guy who came up with a brilliant idea. He knew how popular Elvis is and at the time, the U.S. Post Office had no postage stamp honoring Elvis. He traveled down to a small country in South America and convinced their national post office to issue an Elvis stamp. They did and he promptly bought thousands of them. He then took his stamps back to America where he had them mounted and framed. He then advertised in the back of magazines popular in the South for people to be among the first to own an official Elvis stamp. He sold hundreds of thousands of 3 cent stamps for $20.

Another friend lives in Israel. He started selling rocks he found outside his house. He would advertise that they were "Stones from the Holy Land" and even made some bottles of water from the Jordan river. His raw materials cost nothing. Yet he found many people who thought it would be a great idea to own an object from the holy land. He made a fortune.

I always take my hat off to the king of them all, the fellow who invented the pet rock. Here was an item that everyone agreed had no intrinsic value. Yet everyone wanted to be in on the joke and the guy became a multi millionaire. They knew they were spending money on something of little value, and yet... Well you know the rest.

So there is money to be made out there. Just look around you and never underestimate your own abilities.

Why I do It!

by Maxmakingmoney @ 2007-04-16 - 07:51:38

There are many people who know how hard I work and how many hours I put in to working. They frequently ask me why I do it. I mean most people know that I am already quite wealthy and have no real want. Anything I desire I buy. I don't have to spend every waking moment thinking up more ways to make money. Maybe I should just retire and live on a sailing boat!

But that's not for me. See, no matter how much I love to make money, I love spending it equally. Sometimes, I go into a restaurant and when I leave I put $200 on the table as a tip. Even if the meal only cost me $20! Imagine walking into a car dealership and driving out ten minutes later with a new car! I can do that. It's quite a thrill.

So if you don't care for material pleasures, then this blog may not be for you. But if you like to wake up to some freshly squeezed, ice-cold pomegranate juice, read on. Every week I will try and give you some tips for making money, but even more for spending it. Believe it or not, they both take skill! It's not easy to book the Presidential Suite in the Paris Hilton and not be mistaken for a celebrity! You have to make sure not to get fat when you can eat in fine restaurants every night of the week. I am not a big fan of moderation, but spending a great deal of money on yourself takes practice and creativity.

So before you pick out your new mansion, make a list of the top ten things you would do if you won the lottery and had unlimited cash. Then, as you experiment with many different wealth building practices, keep the list in mind. There is absolutely no reason why a hard working and dedicated person can't achieve all his or her goals. Before you know it, you will be sitting in a hammock in the Bahamas, or a Jacuzzi in Thailand. It's all up to you!

The Money Fish

by Maxmakingmoney @ 2007-04-05 - 14:51:19

What do you see when you look at the ocean? Do you admire the deep blue color? Perhaps you listen to the rhythm of the waves, gently pounding the surf. Can you smell the scent of salt water and seagulls? If you are like me, there is one thing you see when you look at the ocean. Money! That's right, there are millions of dollars just swimming along the ocean currents. Here's how you grab them:

Pound for pound, there is almost nothing as lucrative as sushi. You can catch a tuna with a top fishing rod and bait that cost about $1,000. However, once you own the rod, you can use it every time you fish. But you don't have to fish much. In fact, you can work just one week each year and be a multi-millionaire! You will need to charter a boat. However, you can do this for a week for no more than another $1,000. So far you have spent $2,000. But here's where the fun starts.

Go catch your tuna! A typical Bluefin Tuna can weigh several hundred pounds. To give you an example of how much money is in the sea, think about this: In January of 1992, a 325 kg (715 lb) Bluefin tuna sold for $83,500. Thousands of pieces of sushi were made from this one fish. In fact, the estimated profit from this one fish were $180,000!

Now imagine if you could make $180,000 from catching a single fish! Work seven days and you have grossed $8,260,000! Subtract the $2,000 you spent, and you now have $8,258,000. That's all from one week's worth of work.

So next time you go to the beach and look out over the water, just think of the millions of dollars swimming just below the surface.
