Soon, Friday nights at the "lot" became the number one event for hundreds of people. He started charging four dollars a ticket and people kept coming. He took the money from ticket sales and then hired bigger, more famous bands to perform. Every time he got a more famous band to come, he would raise the ticket prices. Then, when he had steady weekly income, he invested in the hall. He put in better seating, air conditioning, and a bar. The people kept coming.</p> <p>Before he turned eighteen, he had made two hundred thousand dollars. Then, he used the internet to find cheap properties in a few more cities. He build more concert halls. When he didn't have concerts, he rented them out for conventions, weddings, you name it. Ocean has come up with a heist and needs Rusty's help as well as team of eight, highly specialized experts to pull it off. They plan to rob the bank vault of three Las Vegas casinos owned by Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia). Besides the lucrative payoff to pull off this big job, Ocean wants to win back his ex-wife, Tess, who is now Benedict's girlfriend. With an incredibly elaborate plan to penetrate the security system and stage the robbery, you see this impressive group of men go into action. That's what makes this movie work. You've heard the cliched term on-screen chemistry used over and over again. But in this case it really exists, and you can't avoid it. Clooney and Pitt look so natural working together; it doesn't look forced. The banter is great. Even though Ocean's gang are technically breaking the law, you end up rooting for them. Benedict is really the bad guy in this movie, not Ocean and his friends. You want them to stick it to Benedict and "acquire" the $150 million payoff. One of the great scenes of the movie is rounding up the gang as well as recruiting the new guy, Matt Damon who's a skilled pickpocket. They gather together as Ocean explains the level of security surrounding the vault. Of course it's tighter than Fort Knox, but Ocean and Rusty are cool as cucumbers and confident that it's doable. It doesn't matter that it's highly improbable to pull off a heist such as theirs. Ushers are polite, rowdy fans are immediately ousted, even smokers are told they have to leave the ballpark to smoke. There are literally dozens of restaurants around the park. Not just hot dog stands, every thing from salad bars to kosher food stands circle the stadium. All are just steps away from the field. Stepping out to grab a bite, you will never miss any action.</p> <p>I think the key to Lerner's fortune has to be in the caps though. Every fan just has to buy a souvenir Nationals Cap. You figure it is the least you can do. Yet these caps, which are just regular cotton caps with the Nationals logo, cost twenty dollars each!! Think about how many thousands of fans come to the park during the season (with over one hundred games). If just half of them by a cap (which I am guessing wholesale for about $1), then the Nationals (A.K.A. Lerner) have just made a fortune.</p> <p>Yet I do not begrudge Mr. Lerner for selling twenty dollar caps. Quite the contrary, I admire him. If you are serious about making money, follow the trail of the billionaires. The audacity to take something which you buy for one dollar and sell it for twenty is just the kind of attitude you need to make a fortune. Don't be timid. Timid people never make fortunes. Dare to be bold. All this without going to any training camp or working the way up through the minor leagues!</p> <p>Then there is Sonya Thomas, the Black Widow. This slender lady weighs just 100 pounds. Yet she crushers her opponents regularly. She once eight eighty chicken nuggets in five minutes! I am sure every chicken company out there wants her as their spokeswoman.</p> <p>So if you have no athletic ability whosever and want to make a fortune and get on TV, try going the route of competitive eating. All it takes is a big appetite and lots of practice. Remember, we are in love with the concept of making money, and for that you don't need an advanced degree. Here is an idea if you want to be involved in health but don't want to go to medical school. Become a physical trainer. More and more people around the country are becoming interested in working out. They want to get in shape, but they have no idea how. They are willing to spend a great deal of money for someone to come to their house and teach them about fitness. But here's the key. They don't really want knowledge. Anyone can put on a pair of sneakers and take up running. Want they are seeking is motivation. And anyone can become a motivator. You don't need any special talents or skills. All you need is a friendly personality and the ability to give people a little push when they need it. Just put a little ad in the local paper that you are a personal trainer. Charge about $100 per hour. Any less and they will think that you are too cheap. Then when you have your first client, start them off with some basic stretching. If you don't know how, just google it. There is tons of stuff about stretching on the Internet. After stretching, do some basic exercises. Try a few push ups and sit ups. Maybe running in place. You want to get a feel for how in shape they already are. Don't push too much. Just enough so that the client feels they are getting a good workout that is challenging, but do-able. Later you can add more complicated workouts. Take my word. People will pay good money for a little motivation. And let's be honest....Fido is going to get the short end of the stick. Who has time to walk the dog beyond the front steps? Dogs need the fresh air and exercise every day. That's where you come in. Here's an opportunity to be an entrepreneur... and perhaps lose a few pounds along the way! Make a simple flyer and distribute it to everyone in your neighborhood. Leave some flyers pinned up in the local grocery store, library, or community center. Charge a flat fee for walking a dog two times a day for one hour, five days a week. Depending upon how strong and brave you are, consider walking three or four dogs at a time. Imagine the easy money you can make working a few hours a day. If you're not into fresh air and exercise, then recruit some hearty teenagers and give them a percentage of the weekly take. Be the dog walker broker, so to speak. But I heartily recommend getting out and enjoying the brisk walk. You'll benefit from the exercise, and the dogs will be thrilled. Paying retail. If you want to be super rich, don't pay retail for anything. I never do. It's not that I can't afford it. There is very little that I can't afford. Its just the principle. You are the rich guy. You are in control. You will not let some shopkeeper tell you how much something cost. Go to the Rolex Store if you need a watch. Pick one nice one out that cost $10,000. Then tell the guy behind the counter you will buy it for $7,000. Do not offer $7,000. Just tell him you are buying it for that price. If he starts to complain, look him in the eyes and say again -- slowly -- "I will take this one for $7,000." Trust me, he won't argue if you look like you mean business. </p> <p>Now, take that $3,000 you just saved and waste it by going to a game and renting a luxury suite. Leave at half time. Just so that everyone knows that the $3,000 means nothing to you. Quite the opposite, that's where the genius lies. </p> <p>You see a standard white T-shirt, purchased wholesale in bulk quantities of course, cost around $4. That's right, just four dollars. However, print a picture on it, or even some silly slogan -- and you can now market the shirt for $40. Yes, a 1000 percent profit margin! All you need is to come up with a slogan and start selling them.</p> <p>The slogan does not even have to make sense. The other day, I saw a kid wearing a shirt that said "Soup Cool Rain." I do not know what it means, and I doubt the kid does either. But I do know that he spent real money on that shirt! All around the world, kids who don't even speak English are wearing shirts that say the craziest things. How about "Ride Dog Drink" or "Blue Fast Dance." They mean nothing, but kids think they are "cool." </p> <p>You know what I think is "cool"? Making enough money to buy a yacht. In a typical year (if you live in a place where the temperature dips down in the Winter) you will spend an additional $100/month to heat your house if you have low quality, un-insulated windows. If you have air conditioning, in the summer you will spend an extra $150 to cool your house. That's $12,300 in just one year. In just over a year, you have wasted money that you could have spent on putting good windows in the first place.</p> <p>Why am I telling you this? Because there is money to be made in selling replacement windows. Everyone wants to save money, and by selling quality products, you will be helping them do that. You can charge a fortune for them, the mark-up is very generous. But people really don't mind. That's because at the end of the day, you are helping them SAVE money.</p> <p>Replacement windows may not seem like a glamorous job, but you don't have to install them. Hire a few professionals to work for you. All you need to do is get out there are show people how much money they are wasting. Just sign them up and you can make easy money, even after you have paid off the installers. It's a great business to be in so don't waste. Since I am currently unemployed, I watch TV all day (and most of the night too!) Can I earn money doing what I do?"</p> <p>Well, my answer is.... of course. First, you are wrong. You do have a valuable hobby, several in fact. You probably have a really good sense of what is being broadcast on television. Television networks are always looking for people to review new programs. They want to know what is going to be a hit and what will be a dud. By all means, contact all the major networks and offer your services. There are not many people who can watch television for eighteen hours every day. I am sure you could make a small fortune as a "broadcast quality consultation."</p> <p>But don't stop there. While you are at it, let the furniture, beer, and pizza companies know that your services are available for hire. Every major company spends millions on focus groups and customer feedback. With your testing services, you could actually save them lots of money. However, if you are smart, you can turn your hobby into your profession and make money by doing what you enjoy.</p> <p>The key is to go from being a "collector" to being a "dealer." A collector just gathers things and stores them. A dealer both gathers items and sells them for a profit. Every time the dealer sells an item, he makes more than he has paid for it. He can then repurchase something similar or just keep the profit. The point is, instead of the stamps or coins sitting in an album, they are out there earning money for the dealer.</p> <p>Take my friend with the beer bottles. His house is filled with them. Every square inch has a bottle. His wife can't stand it. He told me that he loves finding new bottles, but he really doesn't know what to do with them once he has them. So they sit around the house. Now if he went online and advertised even a fraction of his collection on E-bay or a similar site, he could make so much money he could purchase hundreds of new bottles. Not only would he have rebuilt his collection, but the new bottles would be filled with beer. Some people cannot afford to travel, so they buy one of his rocks and feel that they now own a little piece of the exotic.</p> <p>For example, he once traveled to Israel and brought back a sack of stones from the Judean Desert. The people at Customs looked at him as if he was crazy, but they didn't charge him because they said the stones had no value. He marketed them as "Stones of the Holy Land." I kid you not, he sold everything he had collected at $40 per pebble.</p> <p>He went to Nepal on vacation and brought back rocks from the Himalayas. "Own a piece of Mount Everest" he said in his brochures. People from all over wanted one. These are people that could never have climbed Everest, but they still wanted a reminder of the highest mountains in the world.</p> <p>He even brought back rocks from the Galapagos Islands. Once again, he charged $40 for each rock and sold them as "Elemental Reminders of Darwin." He is now a very wealthy person. Each year he picks an exotic location and goes on vacation. What he brings back not only pays for the vacation, it provides him with enough money to live comfortably the rest of the year. Some people love his rocks so much that they are on his mailing list. Wherever he goes, they will buy a stone! If you ever visit someone and they show you their "exotic stone collection" chances are they bought them from my friend. Let's say those forty houses have 100 bicycles. So 300 times a year, someone will need to repair a flat tire. </p> <p>Repairing a bicycle tire is simple and can be learned in ten minutes. You can even learn how to do it online. But don't you go changing all those tires. Hire some neighborhood kids to do it. You charge $20/tire (people will pay it) and pay the kid who does the work $5. Believe me, he will be very grateful just to have some money. That's $4,500 for just one residential block. Keep advertising and adding streets to your territory. Pretty soon you will be raking in tens of thousands of dollars every single month.</p> <p>The beauty is this side-business runs itself. So after you have it up and running, try something else. Since you don't have to put time into these types of businesses after they are set-up, there is no limit to how many other things you can do. Then start with small grocery stores. At first, you won't make much money and you will have to work hard. But the beauty of the system is that once a place starts selling the item, you get paid for every order. Even if the retailer is buying direct from the manufacturer, if you were the one to first make the connection, then you get a cut for ever.</p> <p>If you can sign up five stores a day, you are doing great. At the end of a week, you will have twenty-five stores as clients. You can earn up to $500 per store, depending on the product. That's $15,000 for one week's worth of labor! The next week, when you sign up another twenty-five, you will make $30,000. As long as you signed up the store, you are the one who gets the commission. (In this example, we are assuming that the grocery store sells 500 of the item/week and that your commission is $1. The truth is, you don't. You hire college students and<br> retired people very cheaply. You can have one college students walk<br> four dogs at once. If you charged $10/day for the service, your gross<br> income is $40. Pay the student $10 to walk the dogs around the block<br> and you are now making $30 doing.... nothing.</p> <p>Obviously, the more clients you have, the richer you will become. So<br> stop sitting around. The phone company had announced that anyone who wanted to participate could deliver books for cash. Yet most people only made about $100 for the day. I made over $5,000. Here's how I did it. </p> <p>First, the operation was as follows. Early in the morning, all those who wanted to work showed up at a central distribution point. The phone books were stacked on crates. Some crates had white pages, some had yellow. We picked up a street route from a table which would list the number of houses. We then had to take the correct yellow and white pages. On our own, we had to place one set of each in a plastic bag. Then we would drive to the route, distribute the bags and come get another list. Each route paid about $40. </p> <p>The key to making money is speed. The faster you can pick up the books, bag them, and distribute them, the faster you can get another route. So, the way to make the real money is to recruit a bunch of people to help you. College age students and housewives are great. You don't have to pay them much, and they can work fast. Your role is to organize them. You need one group to stay all the time at the distribution point and bag the books. You have two separate groups who drive up, pick up the books, and distribute them. Your role is simply to pick up the routes and make sure there is no waiting. While one delivery crew is picking up books, the other is out delivering.</p> <p>Make sure that you don't just grab any routes. Some are much closer to the distribution point than others. Some have fewer houses. Get there early so that you can pick the fifty easiest routes. Make sure that your bagging crew has the correct number of bags sitting out for your distribution crews. Your distribution crews should have two people each, a driver and someone to distribute the bags. The whole key is that most people spend a great amount of time waiting. They wait in line to pick up their route. They spend too much time bagging the books themselves. They drive to each house, get out and leave the books, and get back in and go to the next house. Using my system, there is no waiting at all. If you can attain yellow belt level, that will be sufficient.</p> <p>Now, place advertisements in some local papers. Have flyers made and posted around town. maybe splurge for one or two radio spots. Limit enrollment in your "beginners karate" class to about ten students. Twice a week, for one hour, teach your students what you yourself learned. With just 2 hours each week of work, you have now made $9,000. ($1,000 tuition for each of ten students, less the $1,000 you paid). </p> <p>The next step is to form additional classes. Every time you recruit ten new students, you have another class. If you have enough for twenty classes, then you can work a regular forty hour week. However, unlike most guys with forty hour a week jobs, you will be making $200,000 a year (less the $1,000 you paid).</p> <p>Finally, after the first year, hire your best students as instructors, and you now have a "karate school." Each instructor can gross $200,000. Pay your young instructors no more than $20,000 salaries. The rest of the money is yours. If you have ten instructors, your profit will be $1,800,000. "In human nature," Greenspan said, "euphoria takes over when the economy has been on the rise for a couple of years, fostering bubbles, and these bubbles cannot be defused until the fever breaks." Said Greenspan: "The human race has never found a way to confront bubbles."</p> <p>It's all very well for Greenspan. What about us, the simple investors out to make an honest buck, pay the taxes on the gains and go off to retire in relative comfort? You can buy cans of soda for twenty-five cents each, wholesale. Anyone can become a wholesaler. The whole process takes about the same amount of time as frying an egg. Just call any of the major distributors.</p> <p>Now, imagine yourself on a really hot day. You are parched. You are also tired. You have been working all day. It doesn't matter if you have been working digging ditches or writing content, everyone gets tired. Now, you don't have anything to drink with you, but just a block away is a soda vending machine where you can get an ice cold coke. You know the kind where beads of water are forming on the outside of the can because the mixture of sugar and caffeine inside is so cold. Now, how much would you pay for that can. One dollar? Two dollars? The average price in New York City for a cold coke from a vending machine is now $2.50!</p> <p>Now, watch a vending machine in a busy place for about an hour and count how many people put their money in. I recently counted 50 people an hour. 50 times $2.25 times 8 hours a day. Is it enough for you. Now multiply times 365 days a year because vending machines never close.
